Information on Summer Camp 2019

Following on from a parents' meeting last night, #89thBremore Scout Group are delighted to confirm that our Summer Camp 2019 will be to Gilwell Park Scout Centre in London, England.

Camp will take place from 3rd to 10th July 2019.

Both our Scout Section and Venture Section will be in attendance and travelling together. There will be separate age appropriate programs for each section, but there will be some activities that we do together e.g. a day trip to explore London city and see the sights, campfire, games etc.

The cost of the camp will be €400 per person and will cover travel, food, accommodation, activities, insurance etc. Scouts will need their own spending money.

In order to keep the costs low, we plan on booking flights and accommodation this month. To that end, we need to confirm numbers. We have deposits paid from a number of scouts already, but want to give an opportunity to anyone who is undecided at the moment to let us know if you want to come. You contact us via any of our Social Media Channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), E-Mail, or even better, in person after one of our meetings.

We are aware that €400 is a lot of money, so if parents wanted to get in touch with our Parents & Friends Committee to arrange some fundraising for the group e.g. Table Quiz, Bag Pack etc. we can arrange this.

This will be our Scout Group's first ever international camp and will be a fantastic opportunity for our youth members to go to home of scouting, experience an international camp, and meet fellow scouts from around the world. This camp will be remembered in the history of our young group and we're sure that the stories from it will become Legends in the years to come as they are retold while sitting around campfires, or hiking through woods, and as we say -

Scouting is an Adventure, but we never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
